The Muslim Society @ Aalborg University started
its activities with the weekly Ramadhan study circles in 2005. Since then MS@AAU
has been organizing regular learning sessions and social activities, along with
occasional special events that promotes Islam and Islamic culture.
MS@AAU works with the following objectives :
-
To promote awareness among members
towards seeking and living a Muslim identity.
-
To facilitate spiritual training and
brotherhood among the members.
-
To build relationships with the
local community, both Muslims and non-Muslims.
-
To highlight the importance of
inter-cultural and inter-religious communication and promote
multiculturalism.
|
The
regular activities of MS@AAU includes the different aspects of living a Muslim
identity, such as Qur'an Taleem sessions, study circles to increase Islamic
knowledge and sports & social activities to foster unity and brotherhood.
Besides these regular programs, larger events are also organized occasionally,
for example Qiyam-ul-layl programs for
spiritual training and multicultural dialogs.
Other
examples include Sister's Day – an event organized by and for the sisters and
Eid gatherings. MS@AAU strives to provide a platform where Muslim youths, both
from AAU and the local community, can come together and play an active role in
fulfilling their dual responsibilities of being a Muslim and a member of the
Danish society.
